The Grimaldi Forum hosted an important initiative aimed at raising awareness about drowning prevention among Monaco’s youth on Friday, November 22. The event, lead by HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco, brought together all 310 first-year primary school students in the Principality for a morning of interactive workshops and educational activities.

Organised by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, the event was supported by key partners including the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports, Monaco City Hall, the Monaco Red Cross, the Maritime and Airport Police Division, the Monaco Fire Brigade, and the Monaco Academy of the Sea. Through a series of engaging sessions, children learned critical information about water safety, emergency equipment, and life-saving first aid techniques designed to reduce drowning incidents, which claim over 230,000 lives annually worldwide.

The morning also featured a reading of La Magie de l’Eau, an illustrated book by Mélinda Guery, presented by the author and Sandrine Raymond Lucarini, patron of the association La Magie de l’Eau. The book, which promotes swimming education and understanding of aquatic environments, was gifted to each child along with a bag containing a swimming cap and a winter hat in the Foundation’s colours. The initiative highlighted Monaco’s commitment to ensuring water safety and preventing drowning through education and collaboration.
