On Saturday, November 2, 2024, the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation hosted a memorable reunion in Monaco, gathering over 60 London School of Economics (LSE) Stelios Scholars to celebrate two decades of impactful scholarships funded by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou…

Since its inception, the Stelios Scholarship program has supported countless students, with Sir Stelios contributing an impressive £3.7 million to date.

Held under the honorary presence of LSE’s President and Vice Chancellor, Professor Larry Kramer, the event offered an opportunity for alumni and current scholars to connect and reflect on the program’s legacy. Professor Kramer shared updates on LSE’s future, while Sir Stelios emphasized his ongoing commitment to giving back, particularly through supporting higher education. He highlighted the importance of philanthropy, explaining how his foundation has provided vital resources to deserving students for two decades.

The evening was marked by an inspiring fundraising initiative, encouraging alumni to contribute towards future scholarships. To amplify these efforts, the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation matched each donation, bringing the collective total to an impressive £255,000, enough to establish ten new scholarships for UK students beginning in Autumn 2025. This gesture was aimed at instilling a spirit of generosity among former scholars, many of whom have benefited from similar support in their academic journeys.

The celebration also allowed alumni to share their own stories of academic and professional achievements, underscoring the scholarship’s transformative impact. Sir Stelios’s dedication, alongside the generosity of LSE alumni, ensures that future students will continue to benefit from educational opportunities, thus building a lasting legacy of support and success for the next generation.
