In line with the international ‘Movember’ movement and the push for health-awareness in Monaco in November, the French Association of Urology (AFU) is launching its second edition of “Mois de la Santé Masculine” this November…
The initiative is dedicated to raising awareness about men’s health issues and encouraging men to talk openly about their intimate concerns. Too often, social taboos prevent men from seeking medical advice for problems that could be treated more effectively if addressed early on.
This annual initiative aims to promote men’s health as a vital public health priority. During the campaign, French urologists will focus on educating the public about various conditions, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, prostate enlargement, male fertility, and male contraception.
The AFU has observed that men frequently hesitate to discuss these subjects with their doctors, which can lead to delayed diagnoses and treatments. By shining a light on these issues and providing accurate information, the association hopes to break the stigma and encourage men to take control of their health. “It’s time to make men’s health a priority and overcome the barriers that keep them from seeking help,” a spokesperson from the AFU stated.
Events, information sessions, and free consultations will be organized throughout the month, providing opportunities for men to speak with healthcare professionals about their concerns in a supportive environment. Additionally, the AFU will distribute educational materials to increase understanding of these critical health topics and dispel common misconceptions.
The goal of “Mois de la Santé Masculine” is to foster open dialogue and ensure that men feel comfortable and supported when addressing their health issues. By reducing the stigma around male health conditions, the AFU hopes to create a lasting impact, leading to earlier intervention, better treatment outcomes, and ultimately, healthier lives for men everywhere.
