HSH Prince Albert continued his official engagements in France following the celebration of Monaco’s 20th anniversary as a member of the Council of Europe. After attending events in Strasbourg, the sovereign visited the National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse and traveled to Belfort on Thursday, October 3

At the National Automobile Museum, home to over 500 vintage cars, including the renowned Schlumpf collection, Prince Albert toured the ‘From Monaco to Mulhouse’ exhibition. The display, featuring cars from his personal collection, runs until November 3. The Prince, alongside curator Richard Keller, highlighted his family’s historical connection to automobiles, even noting Albert I’s first motorcycle on display.

The following day in Belfort, Prince Albert visited key sites, including the town hall, citadel, and Alstom factory. He also explored the BelHYnov hydrogen production unit, a facility dedicated to powering local buses as part of the city’s decarbonisation efforts. The Prince expressed keen interest in this initiative, aligning with Monaco’s environmental goals.

During the visit, Prince Albert unveiled the ‘Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco’ sign, marking Belfort’s membership in the association. The town has historical ties to the Grimaldi family, with the Prince recalling how Honoré IV married Louise Félicité Victoire d’Aumont, the Countess of Belfort, in 1777.

Prince Albert’s trip to Eastern France concluded ahead of his attendance at the 19th Francophonie Summit in Villers-Cotterêts this weekend.
