HSH Prince Albert and HSH Princess Charlene, President of Monaco’s Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA), officially inaugurated the association’s new animal shelter in Peille on Monday, September 16. The ceremony saw the participation of both Monegasque and French authorities, SPA board members and staff, project partners, and Peille’s mayor, Cyril Piazza.

This event marks a significant milestone in Monaco’s commitment to the protection of abandoned and mistreated animals, taking place two years after the foundation stone was laid by the royal couple on September 12, 2022.

Completed in just 24 months, the shelter is nestled in a natural area 700 meters above sea level. It offers a safe haven for animals in distress, with the capacity to house up to 40 dogs and around 50 cats, while also being equipped to care for other pets and birds.
