French and Monegasque law enforcement conducted a joint operation at the Saint-Roman roundabout on Tuesday, August 6 to enhance road safety and strengthen their presence in the region. This key crossing point, connecting Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Monaco, and Beausoleil, saw a coordinated effort involving municipal police from Menton, Roquebrune, Beausoleil, as well as the French national police and Monaco’s Public Safety Department.
The operation comes amid concerning road safety statistics in the Alpes-Maritimes department, where 27 deaths have been recorded since the beginning of the year. The collaboration underscores the importance of cross-border cooperation in tackling shared challenges, particularly in managing road crime and ensuring public safety during major events like the Monaco Grand Prix.
Commissioner Yannick Dupin was mobilised at the roundabout, and emphasised the need for continued collaboration, noting that road crime transcends borders and requires joint efforts. This operation is part of a longstanding partnership between French and Monegasque authorities, aiming to provide a stronger, unified presence to deter offences and ensure safety for all.
