In an effort to promote Monaco abroad, the ‘Attractiveness Unit’, accompanied by a Monegasque delegation led by Frédéric Genta, Interministerial Delegate for Attractiveness and Digital Transition, visited Athens on July 9 and 10. This mission aimed to reinforce the connections between Monaco and Greece, while exploring mutual collaboration opportunities.
Historically, Monaco and Greece share deep-rooted ties, with the name ‘Monaco’ believed to derive from the Greek word ‘Monoïkos’. Today, the Greek community is the eleventh most represented in the Principality, according to IMSEE.
The delegation included representatives from both the public and private sectors, such as the Société des Bains de Mer Group, Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco, Monaco Economic Board, Association Monégasque des Activités Financières, and Monaco Private Label. They were received by Dr. Vassili Apostolopoulos, Honorary Consul of Monaco in Greece.
During the visit, Genta met with Dr. Dionysia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou, Member of the Hellenic Parliament and Special Envoy of the Greek Prime Minister for the Oceans. The delegation also engaged with economic leaders, entrepreneurs, and influential figures, discussing potential collaborations in investment, yachting, tourism, and real estate. These discussions, along with interactions with the local press, aimed to enhance understanding of Monaco and its opportunities for Greek economic players.

- Mr. Frédéric Genta, Interministerial Delegate for Attractiveness and Digital Transition
- Ms. Chloé Boscagli-Leclercq, Director of Monaco Private Label
- Ms. Sasha Viviani, Head of Section within the Attractiveness Unit of the Prince’s Government
