AS Monaco captain Wissam Ben Yedder knocked Rodez out of the Coupe de France on the evening of Saturday, January 20 with another hat trick in red and white, advancing the Principality side into the tournament’s round of 16.

Admittedly the favourites in this away fixture, Monaco got off to a good start with a successfully converted penalty courtesy of the skipper at only the 10th minute. Ben Yedder’s 250th career goal and not the last of the night.

Rodez responded rather quickly with a goal of their own, scored by Stone Mambo with his head at the 21st minute to equalise an already lively games.

The visiting Monegasques came back stronger in the second half, as Ben Yedder scored in the 50th minute and then again at the 58th on a beautiful cross from Kassoum Ouattara to complete his hat trick. The Monaco number 10 dedicated his triple to the recently departed coach who found him in Futsal and brought him into the French Championnat National 2, Azzedine Meguellatti

The hosts were unable to find a response to Monaco, with an attentive Radoslaw Majecki in between the Principality’s posts keeping the scoreline at 3-1 until the final whistle.

This win on the road advances Monaco into the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France.
