The Chief of Staff of the Civil Security Instruction and Intervention Unit No. 7 (UIISC 7), based in Brignoles, Colonel Philippe Bertran de Balanda, made an official visit on Friday June 2, to the La Condamine rescue centre.

Welcomed by Lieutenant-Colonel Maxime Yvrard, Chief of Corps, he met the personnel of the Monaco Corps and the authorities of the Department of Interior: Patrice Cellario, Minister of the Interior, Christophe Prat, Director General and Colonel Tony Varo, Superior Commander of the Force Publique, with whom he had attended the changing of the Guard at 11.55 at the Prince’s Palace.

With 568 highly-qualified rescuers, the UIISC 7 is a French Army unit, belonging to the engineering arm, made available to the Ministry of the Interior. It is in permanent alert and maintains specialised detachments to intervene in any disaster natural or technological, in times of peace, crisis or war, both in France and abroad.

The Monaco Fire Brigade has a partnership agreement with this unit. Participation in large-scale exercises is also an integral part of these exchanges.

During Grand Prix events, some UIISC7 staff come to reinforce the Corps of firefighters of Monaco in fire safety.
