Monte-Carlo Beach has won 1st Special Prize in the Hotel & Lodge Awards 2022 Green Category, as awarded by Hotel & Lodge magazine, a top tourist magazine in France.
This is a new category honouring the favourites of the editorial teams and the jury, made up of tourism professionals, for a hotel resolutely committed to an eco-responsible and sustainable development approach.
Monte-Carlo Beach was already Green Globe Certified (with Green Gold since 2018). General Manager Daniele Garcelon has been working for many years towards a zero plastic policy, the recycling of waste and for the drastic management of energy and water.
The hotel has implemented a proactive policy to preserve biodiversity with, for example, the creation in the summer of 2021 of a reef breakwater with positive biodiversity. Located underwater 100 metres from the shore, the breakwater is designed to protect the beach and allow the development of marine fauna. Pointe la Vigie and its superb pine forest have been classified LPO (League for the Protection of Birds). The last fauna inventory has identified no less than 20 species of birds including 10 nesting species and 15 protected species.
The Monte-Carlo Beach and the restaurant Elsa, certified Ecorcert since 2013 for its 100 percent organic cuisine and wild fishing, work closely with local producers to give priority to perfectly ripe seasonal produce and local estates and gardens, including the Jardin des Antipodes to Menton for aromatic herbs and fruits, and the Domaine d’Agerbol on the heights of Roquebrune- Cap-Martin, whose production of organic vegetables supplies Elsa, from the ground to the table, in close proximity.
“My teams and I receive this award with joy and humility; as a recognition and a strong encouragement in the pursuit of our daily commitment, said Daniele Garcelon.
