AS Monaco enjoyed a huge 4-0 win over Clermont Foot in front of home fans at the Stade Louis II on Sunday, January 16.

Monaco’s rising star Sofiane Diop opened the scoring in the dying moments of the first half, making it 1-0 two minutes into injury time.

The real fireworks began in the second half, with a classic Wissam Ben Yedder goal at the 55th minute. The France International was doubly effective in extending the Monegasque’s lead as he scored again just seven minutes later, bringing the scoreline to 3-0 at the 62nd minute from the penalty spot.

The hosts were not done entertaining the home crowd just yet, and it would be Ciao Henrique who would deal the final blow at the 84th minute. The Brazilian scored his first goal with Monaco and in Ligue 1 just before the match could conclude.

The much needed victory was a first for Monaco in 2022 and the first for Principality side with new head coach Philippe Clement at the helm.

Monaco now stand in fifth place in the Ligue 1 table, and will look to climb the ladder as they face off against Montpellier on Sunday, January 23.
