AS Monaco continue to climb the Ligue 1 ladder, after a close match against Stade Rennais in the Stade Louis II on Wednesday, December 22.
Martin Terrier opened the scoring for Rennes, bringing the visitors up to 0-1 at the 16th minute.
However, it did not take long for Monaco to equalise, and it would be up to Wissam Ben-Yedder from the penalty spot.
The French international calmly converted the penalty, bringing the scoreline to a level 1-1 at the 35th minute.
A strong build-up by the hosts saw Kevin Volland claim the lead for Monaco, making it 2-1 at the 72nd minute from an assist by Sofiane Diop.
That would be enough for the Monégasques, who walk away from this regular season fixture with all three available points, and subsequently climb up to sixth place in the Ligue 1 table.
Monaco’s next match will be against Quevilly-Rouen in the Coupe de France’s Round of 32 on Sunday, January 2.
