Cafes and restaurants struggling in the post-pandemic economic slowdown have been offered a helping hand by the Monaco authorities.

The initiative will allow the businesses to use the terraces on public property free of charge until September. The Government and the Town Hall will absorb the cost 50-50.

The businesses concerned will not need to apply for the help, which will be applied automatically, the Government said on Monday, July 19. Restaurants are suffering from a lack of trade in part due to the fact that they are allowed to serve diners who are local, either from Monaco or from communes relatively close by. Under the current regulations they must turn tourists away.

The Government is also extending the payment of subsidies to employers under the CTTR scheme, until September 30. More info: www.covid19.mc
