Monaco’s elected assembly has called on the Government to further reduce coronavirus restrictions.
In a statement, the Council said that the health situation is still very much under control, despite the recent increase in positive cases.
No more Monaco residents are currently in hospital with coronavirus symptoms and the recent uptick in cases stems from a single source where distancing protocols were not observed, the Council said.
Thanks to the vaccination programme fewer cases are emerging with serious symptoms.
The Council urged the Government to take note of the French announcement on Wednesday, June 16, that the curfew will be lifted from Sunday, June 20. “Monaco should not fall behind our neighbours,” the Council said.
There is no reason to keep a curfew in place, the Council added.
With France having rediscovered its liberties, this should also be the case in Monaco, the Council said.
