L’Emprise

The 2014 French TV film ‘L’Emprise’ will be screened at the Louis Notari Library, and will be followed by a debate in French as part of the ‘Journee Internationale pour l’Elimination de la Violence a l’Egard des Femmes’ or the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women which will be held the following day.

Jil is Lucky – Thursday Live Sessions

French folk singer and songwriter Jil is Lucky will perform in the Grimaldi Forum’s Indigo venue from 18:30. The Nouvelle Vague concert, originally intended for this date, has been postponed due to the current health crisis and its multiple repercussions on travel in France. But not to worry, because Jil is Lucky is back in Monaco with a whole new set of tunes.

Une des dernieres soirees de carnaval

The Princess Grace Theatre presents this 2020/21 season production; ‘Une des dernieres soirees de carnaval’. Carlo Goldoni’s play has been translated from Italian to French and will be performed in the Salle Prince Pierre of the Grimaldi Forum from 19:00.

As the performance is part of the ‘Culture & Vous A Monaco‘ program, tickets cost just 5 euros and can be bought here.

Trio Zeliha – an OPMC recital

The Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra present this ‘Grande Saison’ recital from 18:00 at the Auditorium Rainier III. The Trio Zeliha will take to the stage to perform a selection of Beethoven’s music.

Tickets for the event can be bought here. However, “due to confinement rules in France, access to the concert is restricted to people residing in Monaco.”

Réflexions philosophiques – an OPMC production

The Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra present this ‘Grande Saison’ production from 18:00 at the Auditorium Rainier III. World renowned conductor Kazuki Yamada will take to the stage and will be joined by Nicholas Angelich as the evening’s piano soloist. The composers featured in the musical menu are Victor de Sabata, Ernest Chausson and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

In the cinema this week

Unfortunately, the Cinema des Beaux-Arts has been closed until further notice as a result of the total lockdown of France and the curfew in the Principality. Look out for updates in future editions of ‘This Week in Monaco’.
