In a public session at the National Council on Tuesday evening, Minister of State Pierre Dartout announced that the Monegasque Government is granting financial support of four million euros to the areas worst-affected by Storm Alex.

“One million euros to each affected French valley, as well as to Ventimiglia and the Italian part of Roya, the Minister of State said. These sums will make it possible to come to the aid of people in distress, but also help rebuild and secure buildings damaged or destroyed during this terrible disaster which deeply affected the entire national community.”

Prince Albert II had already expressed his desire to participate in the collective effort to help the valleys of the Alpes-Maritimes and Italy damaged by Storm Alex, and Mr Dartout’s statement puts a figure on the aid provided.

The diocese of Monaco is collecting clothing and food for displaced victims of the flooding, and gifts can be taken to churches in the Principality.

President Macron will visit the area on Wednesday.
