Major work is about to start on the avenue des Spélugues, but without disturbing traffic flow, the Government said on Friday, June 5.
The purpose of the work is to improve rainwater flow to better cope with heavy rainfall. In recent years the basements and ground floors of properties next to the avenue have suffered significant flooding.
Philippe Porcu, manager from the Sanitation section of the Urban Planning Department, said that the scope of work includes increasing the diameter of pipes, separating wastewater and rainwater, and replacing the lighting along the road with LED technology.
Both traffic lanes will be able to operate, and the footpath will remain open during the work, which is expected to last until the end of this year.
