An 18-year-old from Menton has been sentenced to 12 months in prison, with six months suspended, after punching two men unconscious during an altercation at Monaco’s funfair on October 30…

As reported by Monaco-Matin, the defendant, identified as Yanisse F., appeared before Monaco’s Criminal Court on Friday, November 6, charged with intentional violence following the incident.

The confrontation began when two costumed visitors jokingly approached passersby with a plastic sword, which touched the teenager. He claimed to have felt humiliated and alleged that racist insults followed, although the victims denied making them.

The ensuing violence left one man with a fractured jaw and suspected eardrum damage, whilst the second suffered a head injury after losing consciousness. The defendant, who had no previous convictions, apologised repeatedly in court and expressed remorse for his actions. Deputy Prosecutor Béatrice Moure condemned the disproportionate violence, warning that the punches could have proved fatal.

Alongside the prison sentence, the court imposed a five-year ban from Monaco and ordered medical assessments of both victims. Each was awarded €2,000 in provisional compensation, pending further examination of their injuries.
