Monaco has reaffirmed its commitment to international tax transparency by taking part in a major OECD conference in Montenegro, bringing together officials responsible for the exchange of tax information from jurisdictions around the world.

The Principality attended the 13th Conference of Competent Authorities of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, held in Kotor from October 27 to 29, 2026.

The three-day meeting provided an opportunity for participating authorities to exchange experience and discuss how international standards on tax transparency can be implemented effectively. Discussions focused on the responsibilities of competent authorities, enhanced monitoring of information exchange on request and the application of the principle of foreseeable relevance when responding to requests for information.

Delegates also examined developments to two key international reporting frameworks: the Common Reporting Standard and the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework, which are designed to support the exchange of financial and tax-related information between jurisdictions.

The growing role of artificial intelligence was another subject on the agenda. A dedicated session explored how the technology could create new opportunities for the exchange of tax information, while also raising questions around data confidentiality and security.

Monaco’s participation reflects its continued involvement in the work of the Global Forum and its commitment to keeping pace with evolving international standards and best practices.

The Principality said this engagement also contributes to maintaining constructive relations with international partners and supporting cooperation on transparency in tax matters.
