Artificial intelligence could transform everything from public services and education to healthcare in Monaco, but experts have warned that its adoption must be accompanied by strong safeguards…

The opportunities and challenges that accompany the AI era were explored during a breakfast conference at the Méridien Beach Plaza, bringing together three speakers to examine its potential impact on the Principality.

Digital transformation was a central theme, with AI offering ways to improve productivity by sorting and generating documents and automating routine administrative tasks. Speakers stressed, however, that confidential government data must be processed securely, using infrastructure controlled by the Principality where the level of sensitivity requires it.

Education presents a different challenge. Students need to understand how to use AI effectively, whilst schools must address concerns including cheating and the changing relationship between pupils and knowledge. Training for both teachers and students was identified as an important part of finding that balance.

Healthcare could also benefit significantly. AI can support medical professionals by identifying details in diagnostic information that may be difficult for the human eye to detect, whilst helping healthcare providers allocate resources more efficiently.

Overall, the discussions highlighted the importance of a measured approach, allowing Monaco to benefit from advances in artificial intelligence whilst maintaining appropriate safeguards around data, education and healthcare.
