Vadim Ermolaev has publicly accused members of Ukraine’s military intelligence service of involvement in the June 29 bomb attack that seriously injured him, his partner and son in Monaco, while also thanking President Volodymyr Zelensky for his support…
In a signed letter released through his legal representatives and authenticated by his Monaco lawyer, Ermolaev wrote: “Based on the information provided to us during the investigation, we are convinced that active officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, known as GUR, are directly involved in this assassination attempt.” He added that the evidence suggests the operation extended beyond those directly involved and may include officers linked to the agency’s current or former leadership.
Calling for “a complete, independent, and transparent investigation,” Ermolaev said the allegations concern “international security and trust in institutions” if intelligence officers were involved in organising an attack on European soil.
Despite the accusations, he expressed “sincere” thanks to President Volodymyr Zelensky “for his personal attention to this case and for the assistance already provided,” stressing that his statement “is directed neither against Ukraine nor against the Ukrainian people.”
Recalling the explosion outside his Monaco residence, Ermolaev wrote: “We know that the perpetrators of the attack saw a woman and a child beside me before triggering the explosion. They acted; their objective was to kill all three of us, without distinction of age or sex.”
He described the family’s survival as “nothing short of a miracle,” revealing that his partner Anna suffered “extremely severe injuries with irreversible consequences,” while their son sustained burns, fractures and serious trauma. Still recovering in intensive care, Ermolaev thanked His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, the Monegasque and French authorities, and concluded his letter with a call for “truth, protection, and justice.”
