The return to work and school does not have to mean the end of that summer feeling. With a few simple changes, September can instead become an opportunity to reset routines, restore energy and head into autumn feeling stronger…

As general practitioner Dr Thomas Kilian recently explained to Monaco Info, sleep is the place to start. Waking at the same time each day, gradually returning to regular bedtimes and getting outside into natural morning light can help reset the body’s internal clock and improve sleep quality.

Movement matters too. Rather than setting daunting fitness targets, Kilian recommends making physical activity part of everyday life, aiming for around 30 minutes each day. Exercise supports physical health whilst stimulating endorphins and serotonin, helping create a more positive state of mind.

Nutrition provides the third foundation. A varied diet rich in fruit, vegetables, nuts and other nutritious foods should come before supplements, with Kilian cautioning against routinely taking multivitamins without knowing whether they are needed.

As children return to classrooms and seasonal viruses begin circulating, good sleep, hand hygiene and balanced nutrition become particularly important.

The message is refreshingly simple: forget the dramatic September overhaul. Sleep well, move more, eat properly and embrace the new season as a chance to begin again.
