A repeat drug offender has been sentenced to two years in prison after Monaco police found him carrying 18 grams of cocaine packaged for suspected distribution, with evidence recovered from his mobile phones linking him to drug trafficking…
As reported by Monaco Matin, the 22-year-old delivery driver from Cannes was stopped by Public Security officers shortly before 3:00 am after arousing suspicion while driving a vehicle that was neither registered in his name nor carrying the required documents. A search uncovered 21 individually wrapped packets of cocaine concealed on his person, along with two mobile phones and €440 in cash.
Although the defendant insisted the drugs belonged to a friend and denied dealing in Monaco, investigators presented messages recovered from his phones that allegedly detailed deliveries, quantities and customer contacts. The court also heard that he had two previous convictions for drug trafficking in France.
The prosecution argued that the evidence clearly demonstrated the accused had travelled to Monaco to carry out drug deliveries and sought a custodial sentence together with a lengthy ban from the Principality.
The Criminal Court found him guilty of transporting narcotics and laundering the proceeds of drug trafficking, sentencing him to two years’ imprisonment, imposing a €5,000 fine, confiscating the seized cash and phones, and banning him from Monaco for 10 years.
