HSH Prince Albert II concluded an official visit to Greece following a full day of high-level meetings in Athens, reinforcing the close relationship between the two countries…

During the visit, the Sovereign met with the Greek President, Constantine Tassoulas, as well as the Prime Minister and the Mayor of Athens, who awarded him the city’s Grand Medal of Honour.

Discussions focused on deepening cooperation across key sectors, including tourism, yachting, hospitality and sustainable development. Monaco’s recognised expertise in these areas was highlighted as a potential model for emerging projects in Greece, particularly as the country continues to expand its infrastructure and international appeal.

Environmental protection and sustainability were also central to the talks, reflecting shared priorities between the two nations. The visit builds on previous exchanges, including Prince Albert II’s recent trips to Greek islands as part of scientific research and awareness initiatives linked to ocean conservation.

During his stay, the Prince also visited the site of the future Athens Yacht Club, a project with strong environmental ambitions inspired in part by Monaco’s own approach. The day concluded with the official inauguration of Monaco’s consulate in Greece, marking a further step in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the Principality and the Hellenic Republic.
