The Club Allemand International de Monaco has ushered in a new phase of leadership following its General Assembly held on Thursday, April 9, at the Automobile Club de Monaco.

Members gathered in the venue’s Salle des Princes for the annual meeting, which combined formal proceedings with a social evening of dining and networking, reflecting the club’s blend of structure and community spirit.

The central moment of the assembly was the election of Patrick Wetzel as the club’s sole president for a three-year term. His appointment marks a shift from the dual leadership model that has been in place for nearly a decade. Wetzel had previously shared the presidency with Beatrix Baroness von Dellingshausen, who has now stepped down from the role. Members paid tribute to her years of involvement and contribution, while confirming she will remain active within the organisation as part of its committee.

The assembly also reaffirmed continuity within the club’s leadership structure, with several existing committee members maintaining their roles, alongside the addition of a new member.

Looking back on the past year, the club highlighted an extensive calendar of activities throughout 2025, with more than forty events organised across a wide spectrum. These ranged from regular social gatherings and cultural outings to talks on subjects such as economics and emerging technologies. Members also took part in major events in the Principality, including the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival and the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, as well as concerts at the Prince’s Palace.

The programme extended beyond Monaco, with trips to Vienna and Berlin organised around celebrations linked to the 20th anniversary of the accession of Prince Albert II. The club also underscored the importance of smaller, member-hosted gatherings, which it described as a defining feature of its community.

In his address, Wetzel thanked members for their support and set out plans to build on the club’s current momentum. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a varied programme while also seeking to grow membership and broaden the organisation’s reach.

Looking ahead, the club confirmed that its 2026 gala will be staged at the Salle Empire of the Hôtel de Paris, with the event set to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Germany and Monaco. German comedian Otto Waalkes is expected to attend as a special guest.

With a refreshed leadership structure and an active membership base, the Club Allemand International de Monaco is positioning itself to continue playing a prominent role in the Principality’s cultural and social landscape.
