His Serene Highness Prince Albert II joined schoolchildren in the Saint-Martin Gardens on Wednesday to mark the 10th edition of the “Flowers for the Bees” campaign, highlighting the importance of pollinators in preserving biodiversity.

Ten pupils from the François d’Assise–Nicolas Barré Institution took part in the event, alongside representatives of the French Observatory of Apidology, sharing a symbolic moment with the Sovereign.

HSH Prince Albert II was accompanied by Thierry and Arnaud Dufresnes, respectively founding president and vice-president of the organisation, as the group gathered for a commemorative photograph. The children, who had previously taken part in educational workshops on the role of bees, were able to connect their learning with a real-world environmental initiative.

Launched in 2017 with the support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the campaign encourages the public to plant nectar-rich flowers to support bee populations. It provides a simple but effective way to address the decline of pollinators, which play a vital role in ecosystems and food production.

Since its inception, more than 1.5 million seed packets have been distributed, helping to create flowering spaces across multiple regions. The 2026 edition, running from May 9 to 24, once again underlines how small, collective actions can contribute to meaningful environmental impact.
