A Monegasque delegation led by National Council President Thomas Brezzo and Councilor Béatrice Fresko-Rolfo recently visited Mexico City to participate in the first international conference on women parliamentarians, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union…

The delegation engaged in discussions on gender equality, representation in government institutions, and broader issues related to anti-discrimination efforts. Brezzo emphasized the importance of male involvement in advocating for women’s rights, highlighting Monaco’s commitment to fostering parity across institutions. Mexico, recognized as a leader in gender parity, was a fitting host for the conference, with constitutional requirements mandating equal representation in both chambers of its legislature and a female president leading the nation. The delegation acknowledged these advancements while also exploring opportunities for greater cooperation between Monaco and Mexico in various sectors.

Beyond the conference, the delegation met with high-ranking officials, including the President of the Mexican Senate, to discuss economic relations, tourism, and cultural collaboration. Mexico’s growing ties with the Principality were further emphasized through engagements with members of Fundación Turquesa, an organization that facilitates training programs for young Mexicans in the hospitality sector. Monaco has been a key partner in this initiative, hosting interns for practical training in its renowned luxury hotels.

The visit also set the stage for future diplomatic and economic engagements, with Monaco extending an invitation to Mexican officials to visit the Principality. Discussions included potential collaborations in tourism, trade, and institutional exchanges. The delegation’s trip reinforced Monaco’s proactive role in international parliamentary cooperation while laying the groundwork for stronger bilateral relations between the two nations.
