The Prince’s Carabiniers Orchestra will celebrate six decades of musical service to Monaco and the Princely Family with a special anniversary concert at the Grimaldi Forum on Friday, November 6…

This anniversary performance promises to showcase the full expressive power of the orchestra, balancing the refined beauty of classical masterworks and the fluid rhythms of jazz with the stirring majesty of the military tradition.

The Prince’s Carabiniers are an elite military unit responsible for protecting the Sovereign and the Princely Palace, as well as performing ceremonial duties during official events. Established in 1817, the corps is one of Monaco’s oldest institutions and plays an important role in the Principality’s traditions and national celebrations.

The Carabiniers Orchestra was founded in 1966 at the request of Prince Rainier III, the orchestra began with a small group of volunteer buglers and drummers. The Prince wanted to establish a distinctly Monegasque musical identity for official ceremonies, leading to the recruitment and professional training of musicians within the Carabiniers.

Under the direction of Major Olivier Dréan, who has conducted the ensemble since 2013, the anniversary concert will trace its evolution from those modest beginnings to international performances in cities including New York, Osaka and Dubai.

The programme will open by revisiting the orchestra’s first bugle call, performed on November 19, 1966, before exploring its expanding repertoire and collaborations. The evening will culminate in a grand finale featuring guest musicians and singers, including performers from the Monte-Carlo Opera and the French military.

The concert begins at 20:00 in the Grimaldi Forum’s Salle Prince Pierre, ahead of Monaco’s National Day celebrations on November 19.
