Monaco enjoyed a strong summer tourism season in 2026, with major events, culture and an increase in Spanish visitors helping drive activity across the Principality…
Guy Antognelli, Director of Tourism and Conventions, told Monaco Info that results remained positive despite economic and geopolitical uncertainty encouraging more last-minute bookings. The Grand Prix’s move to June provided an early boost, with combined May and June figures improving on 2025.
Major exhibitions, seaside attractions and Monaco’s gastronomic offering also contributed, whilst security remains one of the destination’s strongest selling points for international visitors.
One notable change was the growth of the Spanish market, helped by the Vuelta a España. Spanish visitor numbers increased by 84 percent during the event weekend and were 39 percent higher across the summer overall.
The Visit Monaco City Walk initiative also proved popular, encouraging visitors arriving by train or car to explore districts beyond traditional attractions around the Rock and Casino.
Attention is now shifting towards business tourism. September’s insurance gathering attracted a record 4,040 registered participants, followed by another successful Monaco Yacht Show.
Antognelli said artificial intelligence is meanwhile transforming how destinations are discovered online, making visibility within AI-generated travel recommendations increasingly important, alongside Monaco’s continuing focus on sustainable tourism.
