The Grimaldi Forum has revealed the cast set to bring Shrek The Musical to life on stage this December, as the beloved ogre returns in a spectacular musical comedy adapted from the Oscar-winning animated film.
West End performer Ben Lancaster takes on the title role of Shrek, the grumpy but big-hearted ogre at the heart of the story. Lancaster’s stage credits include Starlight Express, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Elf The Musical and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, alongside television appearances on BBC’s All Together Now, ITV’s Victoria, and NBC’s The Voyager with Josh Garcia.
Playing opposite him as the spirited and surprising Princess Fiona is Amy Perry, whose stage work spans Beetlejuice The Musical, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, A Christmas Carol and Thoroughly Modern Millie, alongside regular appearances as a guest soloist on BBC Radio’s Friday Night is Music Night.
Rounding out the trio is Nicholas McLean as Donkey, Shrek’s endlessly talkative and relentlessly optimistic sidekick. McLean brings experience from major musicals including Wicked, Sister Act, The Book of Mormon, South Pacific and Grease.
Together, the cast will bring the full world of the animated classic to life through elaborate sets, colourful costumes and catchy musical numbers, promising a lighthearted, family-friendly show built around humour, heart, and a cast of unforgettable characters.
Shrek The Musical will run for four performances at the Grimaldi Forum: Friday, December 11 at 7.30pm; Saturday, December 12 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm; and Sunday, December 13 at 2.30pm. The show is performed in English with French surtitles, with tickets starting from €47. On-site parking is available, with evening rates of €0.70 per hour from 7pm.
