French long-distance star Jimmy Gressier is set to return to Monaco this summer as one of the headline names for the men’s 5000m at the 2026 Herculis EBS Meeting, the 10th stage of the Diamond League, taking place on July 10 at the Stade Louis II.

The reigning world champion over 10,000 metres and Olympic bronze medallist over 5000 metres arrives in strong form, having established himself as one of the leading figures in global distance running. A Diamond League winner, Gressier will be targeting Monaco as a key marker in his build-up to the peak of the season.

He currently holds the French 5000m record of 12:51.59, set in Paris in 2025, and recently underlined his form on the roads by breaking the European 5km record in Lille earlier this year with a time of 12:51.

Monaco is far from unfamiliar territory for the athlete from Boulogne-sur-Mer. He has produced several standout performances at the Principality’s athletics events, including a French record over 5000m at the 2023 Herculis Meeting. He has also twice broken the European 5km record at the Monaco Run, in 2020 and again in 2023, cementing his reputation as a consistent performer on Monegasque soil.

With history, form and familiarity on his side, Gressier’s return adds further intrigue to what is shaping up to be another high-calibre edition of the Herculis Meeting.
