The end-of-year examination period began on April 20th at the Princess Grace Academy, marking a pivotal moment for its young dancers…

Inside the ballet studios, a focused atmosphere gave way to the intensity of final performances, where nearly 40 students took to the stage before a demanding jury. Evaluated on both technical precision and artistic expression, the dancers were judged by a panel of 15 experts, including renowned choreographer and Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo director Jean-Christophe Maillot. While technique remains essential, emphasis was placed on individuality, musicality and the ability to connect with an audience.

Rather than a traditional pass-or-fail system, the assessments aim to gauge each student’s development, offering insight into their progression and potential. Teachers encouraged the performers to approach the moment not with pressure, but with the confidence to express their personality and passion.

Moments before stepping on stage, nerves were evident, yet so too was determination. Students presented a mix of classical repertoire, contemporary choreography and original compositions, reflecting months of preparation.

These examinations represent a key milestone in the academy’s training, shaping the next generation of professional dancers. With the performances complete, students will soon look ahead to a well-earned break before returning in September to continue their artistic journey.
