A new targeted lung cancer screening campaign has been launched in Monaco under the direction of Christophe Robino, Government Minister for Social Affairs and Health…

The initiative, led by the Centre Monégasque de Dépistage, aims to detect lung cancer early; a key factor in improving survival rates for one of the world’s deadliest cancers, most often linked to smoking.

Social security beneficiaries in the Principality aged between 50 and 80 will soon receive an invitation to complete a short eligibility questionnaire. If eligible, participants will be asked to contact the screening centre to book a free, painless, low-dose chest CT scan,  a quick, non-invasive procedure requiring no injection.

To qualify, individuals must be current or former smokers who have smoked the equivalent of at least one pack per day for 20 years and must not already be under medical follow-up for a lung condition. By taking part in this new screening programme, residents will play an active role in preventing and fighting lung cancer, while reinforcing Monaco’s broader public health commitment to early detection and effective care.
