With just over two weeks remaining before the start of scrutineering for the 93rd Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo, the opening round of the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), the official list of participating crews has been released. Among the 70 crews entered, last year’s World Champions and winners of the 2024 edition, Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe, headline the event. For the first time in their careers, they will compete under the number 1, replacing the number 11 they have worn since the FIA introduced personalized driver numbers in 2019.
A highly competitive lineup of ten Rally1 cars from Toyota, Hyundai, and Ford M-Sport promises a thrilling battle. Returning to their teams are Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, Takamoto Katsuta and Aaron Johnston, Ott Tanak and Martin Jarveoja, and Gregoire Munster and Louis Louka. This year also sees Adrien Fourmaux and Alexandre Coria making a high-profile move from Ford to Hyundai.
Local favourite Sebastien Ogier, competing with Vincent Landais in a Toyota GR Yaris, remains a major contender despite participating selectively in the championship. The Frenchman will aim for a record-breaking 10th victory in Monte Carlo. Also returning are two-time champions Kalle Rovanpera and Jonne Halttunen, who are back for a full season in 2025.
Two drivers from WRC2 have joined the top tier this year. Sami Pajari, the 2024 WRC2 champion, teams up with Marko Salminen at Toyota, while Joshua Mcerlean and Eoin Treacy step up to Ford M-Sport.
The WRC2 category is set to deliver its own drama, with notable entries from Oliver Solberg and Elliot Edmondson in a Toyota GR Yaris, Nikolay Gryazin and Konstantin Aleksandrov in a Skoda Fabia RS, Yohan Rossel and Arnaud Dunand in a Citroën C3, and Gus Greensmith and Jonas Andersson in another Skoda Fabia RS.
This year’s Rallye Monte-Carlo sees a record-breaking number of registrations, with 92 entry forms submitted. The final 70 entries include 10 Rally1 cars, 39 Rally2 vehicles (29 classified as Priority 2), 13 Rally3 vehicles (8 Priority 3), and 45 non-priority entries, which include Rally4, Rally5, and RGT classes. See the full entry list here.
The event kicks off the 2025 WRC season with a strong lineup of teams and drivers, promising another exhilarating chapter in the rally’s storied history.
