The Municipality of Monaco formalised a partnership with the association “Aux Cœurs des Mots” (ACDM) on Monday, December 16, reinforcing its commitment to education and cultural initiatives. Mayor Georges Marsan, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Camille Svara, Delegate for the Media Library, officiated the agreement alongside Media Library officials and representatives from ACDM, including President Hilde Haneuse and Project Manager Francine Conrad.
In his address, Mayor Marsan emphasised the shared values of this initiative: “The promotion of culture, literacy, and education for both boys and girls are causes championed by the Princely Family. The Municipality is honoured to contribute to such a humanistic and generous project.”
The collaboration aims to expand access to reading and support the learning of the French language in underprivileged regions while also highlighting the work of local authors. The Municipality will assist ACDM in collecting, sorting, and distributing books and in funding new acquisitions.
To date, over 40 schools in Senegal have benefited from this program, receiving approximately 6,000 books, including 1,000 donated by Monaco’s Media Library last summer. ACDM’s long-term goal is to broaden the initiative to other regions in Senegal and beyond, creating well-stocked school libraries and training teachers to use these resources effectively.
