In a recent survey conducted by the European Best Destinations (EBD) organization, Monaco has claimed the prestigious second spot on the list of “Best European Destinations 2024.”
This accolade, based on over one million votes from travellers across 172 countries, places the Principality just behind Marbella, Spain, and ahead of Malta, Geneva, and Batumi, Georgia.
The recognition highlights Monaco’s unique blend of sustainability, luxury, and cultural richness. EBD emphasized Monaco’s commitment to sustainable tourism, citing its efforts in green development and ocean conservation as standout qualities. The Principality has long been a leader in environmental innovation, aligning with the vision of HSH Prince Albert II, who has championed green initiatives globally.
Monaco’s appeal lies in its versatility, offering a seamless mix of glamour and relaxation. The Oceanographic Museum, the Prince’s Palace, and the scenic promenades of Monaco-Ville provide rich historical and cultural experiences, while the Larvotto Beach area offers shaded promenades and waterfront dining. EBD also praised Monaco as a prime destination for couples, families, and groups of friends, thanks to its exceptional gastronomy, shopping, nightlife, and wellness offerings.
This distinction further solidifies Monaco’s reputation as a destination that combines exclusivity with accessibility, catering to a wide range of preferences. Whether exploring the iconic Place du Casino or savouring local delicacies like barbagiuàn and socca, visitors are guaranteed an unforgettable experience. As noted by Forbes, Monaco exemplifies the best of European travel, offering both sustainability and luxury in its two square kilometres.
