Princess Charlène has been elected President of the Monegasque Rugby Federation solidifying her long-standing commitment to the sport…
This announcement, made today by the Federation, was decided during its board meeting on 29th October and comes as no surprise given her deep ties to rugby, both personally and through her foundation.
Since founding the Princess Charlène Foundation in 2012, she has actively promoted rugby, particularly through the Sainte-Dévote U12 Rugby Tournament, which brings together young players from different countries. The Princess has also championed the ‘rugby exchange’ program launched in 2016, fostering cultural exchange among youth players.
Her passion for the sport extended to creating the Monegasque 7-a-side rugby team, the Impis, in 2017. The team achieved significant success, including winning the prestigious Melrose 7s in 2023 and consistently competing in the Dubai 7s World Tour.
In her new role, Princess Charlène has expressed her desire to support the Federation’s teams and volunteers, while also promoting Monegasque rugby on the global stage. As president, she aims to further the Federation’s mission of promoting rugby in all forms and restoring its prominence.
The Monegasque Rugby Federation, founded in 1996, continues to expand its reach, with a focus on forming strong partnerships and developing its national rugby teams. Princess Charlène’s leadership is expected to bring new energy and attention to the sport in the Principality.
