Monegasque swimmer Lisa Pou expressed disappointment after finishing 18th in the 10km marathon swim in the Seine on Thursday. The race, held in the presence of HSH Prince Albert and other dignitaries, was made particularly challenging by an unusually strong current, with water flow three times higher than usual.

Dutch swimmer Sharon van Rouwendaal won the event in 2h03’34”2, while Pou finished in 2h07’05”4. Despite not being at her physical best, Pou had hoped for a better result, citing the challenging current as a major obstacle. “The race was survival from start to finish. I’m very disappointed,” she said.

Her coach and father, Michel Pou, emphasised the difficulty of the race, noting that even the reigning Olympic champion struggled with the conditions. Despite the setback, Pou remains determined to improve. “These Paris Games are not an end in themselves. I hope to come back even stronger next year,” she said.
