The UIM E1 World Championship saw Team Brady, owned by NFL legend Tom Brady, ascend to the top of the standings after a thrilling weekend in Monaco. Pilots Sam Coleman and Emma Kimiläinen overcame a challenging qualifying session to perform under pressure during two dramatic final races.
Team Drogba, supported by football icon Didier Drogba, secured second place, achieving its first podium finish of the season. Rafael Nadal’s Team Rafa finished third after starting the day in pole position. The Finals featured intense competition among five teams: Team Brady, Team Rafa, Team Blue Rising, Team Drogba, and Westbrook Racing.
In the first Finals race, Yousef Al-Abdulrazzaq of Team Drogba claimed a decisive victory, finishing over 15 seconds ahead of Team Brady. Westbrook Racing, Team Blue Rising, and Team Rafa followed. The second Finals race saw Tom Chiappe pilot Team Rafa to a stunning win, propelling them onto the podium for the first time since Jeddah.
Team Brady’s consistent performance across both races earned them the top podium spot, with HSH Prince Albert himself presenting the trophy to Brady’s winning team.
“It’s great to see the team win here in Monaco. The teamwork has been incredible – all weekend we’ve been grinding through different issues but we proved again that we can deal with any conditions,” commented Brady in the Principality, adding that “I am so proud of Emma, Sam, the whole team and the resilience that we have. I have full confidence and we’re going to keep fighting. I love our team and I love what we are doing.”
The weekend also saw dramatic incidents, with Team Aoki and Sergio Perez E1 Team receiving yellow cards for dangerous driving. Previous season leaders Team Miami powered by Magnus were eliminated in the Race Off, and Team Brazil also failed to make the Finals.
E1 Monaco 2024, presented by BRETT, marked the championship’s debut in Monaco, hosted by the Yacht Club de Monaco. Celebrities from sports and entertainment gathered to witness the event.
