The Government press office announced on Thursday, March 14, that the Monegasque State will become a civil party “in a recently opened criminal proceeding.”
The State was ordered in June 2020 to pay 136 million euros, increased by interest, to the Caroli company as compensation following the cancellation of the project which had been awarded to the company.
The Esplanade des Pêcheurs project was planned as a major real estate and cultural development on the Fisherman’s Esplanade, at the far end off Port Hercule.
Translated from French, the press office statement said: “Recent publications on the internet and various press articles relating to the legal proceedings initiated before the courts of the Principality have led the State to question the conditions in which this award was pronounced…”
The Esplanade des Pêcheurs project and the award of 136 million euros in damages are a central part of the Dossiers de Rocher scandal.
