The 12th edition of the Trophèes du Club Eco Monaco of Monaco Economic Board in collaboration with the Nice Matin Group awarded the prestigious Manager of the Year Trophy to Victoria Stevenson, General Manager of the Columbus Hotel Monte-Carlo.
Victoria Stevenson was notably rewarded for having instilled a virtuous dynamic in the establishments thanks to a managerial policy which favours people over skills.
“The values instilled in me from an early age have been my guiding principles throughout this remarkable journey”, said Victoria, who still holds the position as the first and the only female manager of a hotel in The Principality of Monaco.
“Treating people like you wanted to be treated and embracing a ‘can do’ attitude have been cornerstones of my professional philosophy…This award serves as a reminder that when we stay true to our values, focus on building genuine relationship and approach challenges with a ‘can do’ spirit, remarkable things can happen. Let’s continue to inspire each other, lift one other up, and create a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to shine.”
Victoria Stevenson was born in England but grew up in Monaco from the age of four. Straight after graduating from the prestigious Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland, she started her career at the legendary Savoy in London and held an array of operational positions in 5-star hotels in Paris, China (during the Olympics), England and on the Cote d’Azur, including the Grand Hotel du Cap-Ferrat and the Royal Monceau.
She became the general manager of Columbus Hotel in 2018.
The Columbus Monte-Carlo is the only independent 3-star hotel in Monaco. “But we believe that we are providing and have a hotel at a 4-star level for our clients.”
Victoria, who promotes her “employer brand” strategy, shared the award with her colleagues. “It’s a testament to the collective efforts of an incredible team, mentors and colleagues who have been my pillars of support and who have trusted me.”
Columbus Hotel is now part of the Curio Collection by Hilton and it marks Hilton’s debut in the Principality.
“We believe that we are the gem of Monaco. We are what people don’t expect of Monaco – away from the glitz and glam of Monte-Carlo. We have the same cars in the garage as there are in front of the Casino but our clients prefer a discreet stay,” said Victoria in our interview. Read her full story here.
