AS Monaco played like a team united in their clash against Brest at the Stade Louis II with HSH Prince Albert in attendance on the afternoon of Sunday, November 5, debuting the new APM Monaco sponsored home jersey in winning fashion.
Summer signing Denis Zakaria scored his first ever goal in red and white, having been found by a pinpoint accurate cross from a corner by Aleksandr Golovin to bring the Monegasques ahead by 1-0 at only the 16th minute.
Golovin is enjoying magic form at the moment, delighting Monaco supporters at almost every opportunity. Having already assisted the first goal, Golovin scored the second himself, and with a sufficient level of panache as he struck the ball into the top right corner past a helpless Marco Bizot in between the Brest posts to make it 2-0 to the hosts at the 69th minute.
With this second half screamer on the scoreboard, Golovin has now been involved in seven goals for Monaco since the start of the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season, more than any other midfield player in the top-flight of French football this season.
After a cool, calm and collected team display, the final whistle signalled a 2-0 victory for Monaco and three important points in the fight to stay at the top of the table.
The next fixture will see Monaco take on Le Havre away, on Saturday, November 11, before the Monegasques travel to Paris for a crucial clash against League leaders Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the month.
