Despite the ferocity of the blaze, only one person was injured when fire broke out in the early evening of Tuesday, June 13, in a garage on ave. de Verdun in Beausoleil.
Firefighters from Monaco were the first on the scene.
The fire started in a garage housing four vehicles and a store of tyres, causing a cloud of thick black smoke that was seen for miles around. One of the stored vehicles destroyed in the blaze was electric.
A mechanic on the scene who tried to put out the flames was slightly burned and taken to Princess Grace Hospital for treatment. Two residents of the Villa l’Etoile were rehoused temporarily at the Hôtel Azur in Beausoleil. Two Ukrainian residents will also need to be relocated.
As to be expected, the incident caused major traffic problems.
