All Government departments working on the action plan to address the concerns of the Council of Europe’s Moneyval committee met in a joint session at Le Meridien Hotel on Thursday.
In a press release, the Government said that the two Colleges of the Coordination and Monitoring Committee of the national strategy to combat money laundering, the financing of terrorism and arms proliferation, weapons of mass destruction and corruption gathered under the chairmanship of the Minister of State.
“All relevant competent authorities and representative bodies were present. Among the many topics discussed, a full update on the ongoing strengthening of mechanisms for combating financial crime for the purpose of taking into account the recommendations of the Moneyval report was carried out. Implementation of the national action plan was also discussed. In accordance with its responsibilities, the Committee plays a central role in determining the guidelines and actions to be taken in this regard,” the statement said.
HE Pierre Dartout, Minister of State, underlined the priority for the Principality of Monaco in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism and that all means are being implemented to correspond to the best international standards.
