The multi-billion euro Parisian dream team has hit a rough spot to say the least, as Paris Saint-Germain lost to a ten man Bayern Munich team by 0-1 in front of furious crowds at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, February 14. This was PSG’s third loss in a row, as they were beaten 3-1 by AS Monaco after being eliminated from the Coupe de France tournament by Marseille.

Lionel Messi and Neymar were particularly targeted by less than impressed fans, as the two star signings failed to make an impression on the game, so much so that the pair were both awarded a solid 3/10 rating by L’Equipe. Both players led their teammates to apologise for the loss and to thank them for sticking out the painful performance. Nevertheless, the French press slated them.

However, the consecutively poor on-field performances are just a reflection of what goes on behind the scenes. Neymar lashed out at his teammates after the defeat to Monaco at Stade Louis II, and the Brazilian confirmed himself that he had a falling out with PSG advisor Luis Campos.

Six years after his world record-breaking 220 million euro transfer to PSG, it seems that Neymar’s exit from PSG at the end of the season is looking to be increasingly more plausible. A number of publications have reported that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly jetted into Paris on Tuesday to meet with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi in order to discuss the potential transfer of Neymar to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Meanwhile, World Cup winner Messi has also been heavily linked to a move to join Inter Miami in America’s MLS as no agreement has been made concerning the extension of the Argentine’s contract at the end of the current season.

With a Parisian locker room in turmoil and a shaky future on the horizon, PSG are dropping points in Ligue 1, and a fiercely united Monaco side are fast approaching in their rear view mirror in the race for the title.
