Vintage vehicles belonging to HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and a rare 1965 Aston Martin DB6 Mk1 Vantage restored by former F1 driver Thierry Boutsen will be some of the cars that represent Monaco at a classic automobile event this weekend on the French Riviera.
The vehicles will be on display in the Monaco Pavilion at the “Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat Prestige”, a classic car event organised during this month’s Heritage Days (September 17 & 18) by the Town Hall in the unique setting of the Port, and of which Top Marques Monaco is a major partner.
Monaco and the automobile have enjoyed a long and illustrious love affair. The first car rally was held in the Principality in 1911 and, a few years later, Prince Rainier III, the reigning Sovereign, started his own collection of exceptional vehicles. One of the most iconic cars to be exhibited next weekend by the Car Collection of HSH Prince Albert II dates from the same period. The 1911 Super Cyclecar from Levêque Frères, in Asnières-sur-Seine (Paris), is a four-wheeled vehicle for two passengers. It will be presented alongside a rare Nash Healey Roadster, the first American sports car built after the war in the 1950s, which joined the car collection in 2007.
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat Prestige includes two different events organized in parallel during the same weekend: a car exhibition taking place over two days to celebrate Automobile Heritage, and a Concours d’Elegance, which will take place on Sunday, September 18.
The philosophy of the event is the promotion of classic cars from all eras of the 20th century.
A theme is chosen for each edition, with the theme of this year being “The Italian beauties”. Thierry Boutsen, Ambassador of Top Marques Classic Cars and founder of Boutsen Classic Cars, presides over the Jury of the Concours d’Élégance of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
The Principality is extremely well represented at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat Prestige 2022 by its professionals as well as by its collectors, with a line-up of vehicles which will allow visitors to discover the very best in 20th century car production.
Admission to the event in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is free. For more information on the program of events and schedules, please visit the website www.saintjeancapferrat-prestige.com.
