UPDATED, Monday, April 18 19:30: A 24 year-old Monegasque woman was stabbed repeatedly during an incident at Les Mandariniers apartment building on blvd. du Jardin Exotique on Sunday morning.
The victim’s 34 year-old companion, also a Monegasque, was arrested at a roadblock north of Menton later in the day. He was tested for alcohol and drug substances.
The young woman was taken to Princess Grace Hospital and her condition was described as not life-threatening.
Monaco’s public prosecutor has opened an enquiry into attempted intentional homicide and the suspect will be extradited to the Principality. At this early stage neither the alleged perpetrator not his victim have shed any light on the incident.
The suspect will be brought before a judge in Aix-en-Provence on Tuesday morning. The weapon used in the attack has not been found.
