AS Monaco hosted Metz at the Stade Louis II on Sunday, December 5, and proceeded to dominate, as the Monegasques netted four goals in front of an ecstatic home crowd.

Monaco’s golden boy Sofiane Diop opened the scoring with a goal in just the second minute, setting the tone very early on in the match.

Kevin Volland extended the hosts’ lead just before the first half could conclude, as he converted a penalty at the 44th minute.

The Monegasques carried their momentum into the second half, and found their third goal at the 57th minute, courtesy of Portuguese international Gelson Martins.

Seemingly not content with a 3-0 lead, Monaco continued to press their visitors, and eventually struck again. The ever-opportunistic Wissam Ben Yedder scored at the 87th minute from an assist by Aleksandr Golovin.

At the end of a thoroughly enjoyable 90 minutes of football for the home crowd, Monaco walk away with a well deserved three points, and provisionally move up to sixth place in the Ligue 1 table after a big 4-0 win over Metz.

Monaco’s next match will be away, against SK Sturm Graz for the last Europa League Group Stage fixture of this tournament on Thursday, December 9.
