Steven Spielbergs superyacht, Seven Seas, has been sold for $158 million its listing earlier this year.
The vessel was purchased by the Canadian steel billionaire Barry Zekelman who has a net worth of $2.3 billion. The ship has been given the new name Man of Steel.
Originally Seven Seas was built by the Dutch firm Oceanco and was completed in 2010.
The 86-metre yacht can accommodate 20 guests and 28 crew members. The ship features an elevator as well as amenities such as a sauna, steam room, a massage room, and a gym.
This deal reflects the current booming market of the yachting industry, industry insiders say. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, sales of superyachts have soared. Even as pandemic lockdowns are largely ending, sales are still surging.
The film director and billionaire is now buying a new, larger and perhaps more extravagant superyacht that is also being constructed by Oceanco. It will be 109 metres in length, making it 23-metres longer than his last vessel.
