A young man of Monegasque nationality appeared before Monaco’s Criminal Court on Monday charged with a wide array of offences stemming from an incident in the early morning of last Saturday.
Pulled over by the police in Larvotto for riding his electric-powered bicycle erratically and while under the influence of drink, the defendant stood accused of rebellion and assault against five police officers, according to French-language daily Monaco Matin.
He also spat at the officers, the court heard, and two of the five had to take seven days leave after suffering cuts and bruises. According to the officers he threatened to have them expelled from the Principality.
The SBM worker was given a four-month suspended sentence, but with 10 days to be served in jail as a deterrent.
